Are you unhappy with the size of your breast implants? Maybe you've experienced an undesirable complication such as implant deflation or capsular contracture. If you're dissatisfied with the results of a prior breast augmentation, Dr. Bharti can help. Breast implant revision can be used to correct the look or feel of your breast implants.
Why Undergo Breast Implant Revision in Johnson City?
The number one reason women choose breast implant revision surgery is to increase the size of their breasts. Through revision surgery, Dr. Bharti can switch out smaller implants for a fuller size. Other women choose revision surgery to reduce the size of their implants. A smaller size can give the breasts a more natural appearance.
Capsular contracture is the most common complication associated with breast augmentation. If scar tissue tightens around your implants during recovery, the implants may harden and change in appearance. A breast implant revision can be used to treat complications such as this.
Women may also choose to undergo a breast imlant revision due to changes caused by:
- Weight fluctuations
- or aging
Your Breast Implant Revision With Dr. Bharti
During your consultation with Dr. Bharti, you will be able to voice your goals for the procedure in detail. Dr. Bharti will create a surgical plan based on your cosmetic goals and current health status.
Breast implant revision is typically performed in one to two hours. A general anesthetic or local anesthetic combined with sedation will be administered prior to your procedure. When possible, the same incision pattern from your initial augmentation will be used again during your revision.
Your existing implants will be removed and new implants will be inserted into the breast pocket. The tissues surrounding the implant may be repositioned to provide additional reinforcement. External incisions will be closed with fine sutures and a compression garment will be placed around your chest.
What to Expect After Surgery
Breast implant revision recovery will mimic most aspects of your original augmentation. You may experience some initial bruising, swelling and discomfort for several days.
Dr. Bharti will provide you with a support bra, along with oral pain medication to minimize swelling and discomfort. You will need to meet with Dr. Bharti for a follow up visit a week after surgery. During this visit, your progress will be monitored and stitches will be removed.
Most normal activities may be resumed in about a week. You should avoid physical exercise until your recovery has progressed – generally three to six weeks.
Breast Implant Revision Alternatives
There are no alternatives to breast implant revision. If you are unhappy with your breast implants, they will need to be surgically removed. If an undesirable complication has occurred, surgical intervention may be a medical necessity.
